GDG- 1841 Springfield rifle????

Just went to see the rifle in question, and it does have Springfield 1841
stamped on the metal plate. It was converted from a flint lock to a cap and
ball, but the owner does not know where that took place.
As mentioned earlier, the weapon was sent to Lincoln University from
Harper's Ferry in 1918, but that could have meant that HF was storing these
weapons.
Final thoughts, anyone?
