Well Thank you-  I didn't find the reference in the  text.

    It's a footnote to the last paragraph on page 174 that ends with "Little 
did he suspect that in six weeks he would die at the hands of a man he would 
have recognized--and who was even then standing just a few feet away."

    Apparently neither Officer Westfall nor Commissioner French were theater 
goers since neither of them seemed to have recognized Booth. Also it would 
appear from Kauffman's footnote that it's unlikely that Booth's 
co-conspirators were in the audience during Lincoln's second inaugural.
