Tough way to make a living...although in 1863, it probably beat getting shot at for a "Rich Man's War" (hence the draft "issues" in the Anthracite Coal Fields).

We have a summer home outside of Carbondale, which coincidently, is where my family first came to when they emigrated from Scotland. During my performance reviews, I often point out that if I wanted to work for a living, I'd dig coal.

Outside of Hazleton...(we're gonna get hooked!)

I'll look for your work, next time through GB!

Thanks TB! Nice to get kudos from a fellow "coal cracker."
Dad was from Locust Gap, PA, near Ashland (nice miner's museum there).  Mom
was from Kulpmont,(Mt. Carmel area).  How about you?

I'll second Keith's "Nice Work".

And acknowledge the understatement.  Really impressive stuff.

(Coal miner from where?  I'm originally from NE PA mining country.)

TB

As the son of a coal miner, I can relate.
I can actually NEVER go to the Summer muster, because that is always the
weekend of the Rittenhouse Square Fine Arts Show here in Philly, where I
show my artwork.  I can bring some next winter, though.

Next time you're in town, stop in to Gallery 30, on East York Street just
off the Square.  They sell my paintings and are super nice people.

OHHHH! PITCHUHS!
I apologise. My working class is showing. When anyone mentions painting, or
fencing for that matter, I see guys with rollers and post hole diggers. I
thought you were one of the guys who goes out on those volunteer work
weekends.
Nice work. You should bring a couple to the muster.

Keith,

To belatedly answer your earlier question as to what color I "painted"
the Henry Spangler property, here is an image of my painting from my
website, www.ctjoyceart.com <http://www.ctjoyceart.com/> .  A bit of
shameless self-promotion.
