I think it also provides some support to Hartwig's theory; in the
Harvest of Death photo, the woods are farther back beyond the cut than
they appear today looking from the 121st PA.

That's partly because the cut was modified (enlarged?) as a consequence
of
the notorious three-way land exchange between the RR, the college, and
the
park. At least one Conf. artillery position was removed.
