There are a variety of possible questions that you can research about African American roots and migrations in the United States:

• Did states with high numbers of enslaved African Americans  have high exodus

rates  after the Civil War?
• Did Northern counties with a large manufacturing base attract large numbers                       immigrating black southerners?
• Did immigrating black Southerners tend to congregate in the same counties after moving North?
• Did a number of immigrating blacks prefer rural locations than urban?
• Did the second generation of black immigrants north have a higher literacy rate than the  blacks who stayed in the counties which they left?
• Did  black immigrants  to the north have a higher per capita income than the blacks in the  county from which they come?
